Major in Institutional Pharmacy Leadership

Starting in the fall of 2009, the College of Pharmacy will begin to offer an online part-time Master of Science in Pharmacy major in Institutional Pharmacy Leadership. This program is an expansion of existing programs, and it builds on existing programs. As is the case with the other majors, this program will be a non-thesis masters program that requires 30 credit-hours of graduate level coursework. Nine 3-credit courses are taken completely online, and three 1-credit weekend seminars are attended in Gainesville. Students may elect to take a mentored 8-week applied learning course at an institutional pharmacy in or near their community. There is a proctored comprehensive final exam at the end of the program. Students who have completed the Pharmacy Leadership Academy with The Center for Health Systems Pharmacy, and who have elected to take that program for graduate credit, may complete the master’s degree with only 24 additional credits.

The program is divided into two tracks; one for those pharmacists who are interested in careers at critical care practice sites and one for those pharmacists who are interested in careers at long-term care sites. All students must attend three 1-credit weekend seminars in Gainesville.
