Master of Science in Pharmacy - Online
The University of Florida Master of Science in Pharmacy degree is a 30-credit program taken primarily online with as few as two visits to campus in Gainesville, Florida. The program does not require a PharmD and does not lead to dispensing rights. Rather, it provides the expertise and credentials needed to expand pharmacy industry careers in regulation, policy, sales, economics, benefits management, patient safety, risk management, leadership and more.
The fully accredited, top-ranked UF College of Pharmacy has always stood for excellence, leading the way in academic innovation. In 2008, the residential master's program was expanded to include distance learning. Classes for the Online MSPharm program are held live, online, in highly interactive virtual classrooms at set days and times. Students take one 3-credit, 7-week class at a time, meeting twice weekly during evening hours (Eastern Time), often including Sundays.
Online MSPharm students take 27-28 credits online and 2-3 credits on campus in the form of 1-credit, weekend seminars. On campus seminars are held in Gainesville in late October and early March. Additionally, students may opt to take one, 1-credit seminar online, held mid-July of each year. Graduating students are required to take a proctored final comprehensive exam on campus in Gainesville during their final term of study. Final exams are held three times each year (fall, spring, summer) and are scheduled on the Friday before Seminar weekend so graduating students can attend seminar and take the final exam during a single trip to Gainesville.
Tuition for the UF MSPharm program is $650 per credit hour, regardless of Florida residency, and is payable one 7-week course at a time. Online MSPharm program staff and UF student services are available to assist students utilizing federal financial aid, the GI Bill and employer-based tuition assistance, as needed. This non-thesis program can be completed in as little as two years, part time.
Prospective students should have a minimum 3.0 GPA in any discipline and a minimum GRE score of 1,000 (500 verbal, 500 quantitative). Students holding advanced degrees are exempt from the GRE requirement. Prospective students interested in taking fewer than the 9 courses and 3 seminars required for the graduate degree may apply as a nondegree-seeking student and register for individual courses. Note, however, that nondegree-seeking students do not earn University of Florida credit and are not eligible for federal financial aid.
The Online MSPharm program is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
